This course fully complies with the TDA requirements for 8-hour SPCS Technician Category Training in the selected category as outlined in Rule 7.132 (i) (2), … “8 hours of classroom training in each category in which the apprentice is to provide pest control services”. Click here to view the rule.

These 8-hour courses are a portion of pest control training needed to prepare an apprentice or licensed technician for desired Texas Technician Category licensing exams and must be documented on the apprentice’s verifiable training record.

This is NOT the department-approved Technician Training Course specified in Rule 7.132(m)(1) “…complete a minimum six (6) hour technician training course approved by the Department in general training.”

Do not send our 8-hour Pests Category training certificate to the TDA when applying to take the licensing exam!

Pest control licensing – Inspection and/or control of pests in and around homes, businesses and industries. This includes insect pests or pest animals which may invade homes, restaurants, stores and other buildings, attacking their contents or furnishings or being a general nuisance, but do not normally attack the building itself, as for example, roaches, silverfish, ants, flies, mosquitoes, rats, mice, etc.

The student will also need a copy of the SPCS Category study manual for either Pests or Termites. You may purchase a SPCS Category study manual from the Texas AgriLife Extension Service. Download the SPAT web order form 7-19 here

Verifiable Evidence for Your Files

When completed, the student will have two documents that provide verifiable evidence of apprentice pest control training. Most importantly, the tech gets a downloadable certificate of completion.

In addition, each lesson contains downloadable study guides. The student should also download these, print them and then fill in the blanks while watching the videos. These completed study guides also serve as verifiable evidence of pest control training.
